The innovative Curve 8520 is officially out! The first thing you'll notice is the lack of a trackball. While old school fans of the 8300 wince at the thought, the optical mouse navigation is surprisingly slick. The 8520 is a middle line Blackberry model and does not have flash with the camera. There's no aluminum trim or shiny leather back, so if you are looking for a good deal on a fresh, no frills Blackberry... you found it.

8520 Deals?

Tmobile / Best Buy are charging $699 + tax for these without new service! Ridiculous. Shop around online and check out these auctions. Prices normally end around $400 to $500 than what you'd pay at a retailer. To cover your hide, make sure the phone has a clear ESN and the seller has good feedback. Buying phones on eBay is pretty exciting when the auction is about to end, heh. Many Tmobile users get their upgrade and get the 8520 with intentions of selling it on eBay.

While Tmobile has a slew of Android phones there are those that still long for a touchscreen Blackberry. There are tons of unlocked storms floating around and all you have to do is pop in your sim. The touchscreen and Blackberry OS are a match made in heaven. When the Storm 9530 first came out the OS was a little laggy, but new operating systems have came out so disregard initial reviews. I've made a couple of youtube review vids and the Storm is pleasantly perky. You can download all kinds of apps and themes for free through the Blackberry App Store or by browsing the crackberry.com forums. Its pretty addictive.

Where To Buy Unlocked Storms

Instead of wasting your time going to every Tmobile store or phone retailer, just buy one online. Unlocked storms retail for $599 so anything less than that is a deal. The best deals are probably found on eBay. Some people use their upgrade and get a Storm just to sell it on eBay. Others bought a new one and aren't crackberry fans. Make sure to read the auction description, and glance at their feedback by clicking the # next to their seller name. Even eBay newbs can bid on a Storm and win. Browse around and hopefully you'll find a deal.
